After that she was a Vice Principal at Apollo college of Physiotherapy , Hyderabad for 4 years after which she moved to Chennai and did honorary work in Hindu mission hospital. In 2009, started a ,’Women’s health specialty Physiotherapy clinic’. In April 2014, she took over as the Chennai City Head for India home health care.
Here is a valuable experience shared by her, “The other day I got a call from a husband of a woman who just delivered a boy two days back and having severe excruciating pain in both the wrists. She was unable to lift the child and feed the child. She was having a condition called carpel tunnel syndrome where physiotherapy in the form of wrist rehab program helped her. Also I got a call from a 5 days old New Mom who gave a birth to a beautiful baby girl complaining of severe pain in her low back region and was difficult to take care of her new born. After the physiotherapy evaluation it was found that she had Right Sacro-iliac strain. She had a course of back rehab program and got rid of her pain completely. Like this the list goes on.
Motherhood is a wonderful time in a women’s life. That is the time she needs to enjoy the bonding with her newborn child. She should be pain free to pick up the child, hold the child, feed the child, give bath to the child and play with the child. Doctors are unable to prescribe pain and other powerful medications because of the breastfeeding. So women’s health physiotherapy plays a crucial role during this period. A Physiotherapist who has specialized in women’s health can take care of these post-natal/post-puerperal women in the form of pain management for wrist pain/low back pain, upper-back pain, perineal pain, neck pain, leg pain, elbow pain etc. In addition they can work on post-natal exercises specifically for vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery to trim their tummy methodically and also work on pelvic floor muscles to name a few”.
We at India home health care in addition to do the baby care, we also take care of Mother’s health by sending a women’s health specialized Physiotherapist and a senior lactation consultant who is a senior Registered Nurse for the total well being of the mother and the child.
